Inequities are reproduced every day in public schools in a variety of different ways. They include classroom structures, teaching practices, and one-size-fits-all, mandated curriculum content. We are also involved in this reproduction, putting into practice some of our own unconscious assumptions about, for example, culture, language, race, class, gender, sexual orientation and disability. In this conference, we aim to come together to explore and plan actions to challenge these inequities.
"There are many persons ready to do what is right because in their hearts they know it is right. But, they hesitate, waiting for the other fellow to make the first move--- and he, in turn, waits for you. The minute a person whose word means a great deal dares to take the open-hearted and courageous way, many others follow."
